The name of Pickfords has been synonymous with transport since the company was founded in Cheshire, England in 1646. The first mode of transport used was pack horses which in turn moved up to horse drawn wagons and canal boats.

The dark blue with white packaging identified the model as a Y-37. The new model code number of YY048/SA was tampo stamped in white italics on the water tank as this model was a "Special Edition" with just 3,500 units produced. Since the model's previous appearance as YGB15 (Issue 2), no casting modifications have been made. This model was also prominently displayed with black straps. The previous Garrett models' chrome was replaced with gold plating on the fire box, boiler, and chimney.
